Preschool

Sycamore Community Schools’ Preschool Program serves children ages 3 to 5 with a wide range of abilities. Our Step Up to Quality Five-Star Rated Program offers a continuum of services for students who qualify for special education, ensuring that each child learns in an environment that best supports their individual needs.

Our inclusive classrooms bring together children who are developing typically and those identified with special needs. Each year, the educational team reviews each child’s needs to determine their Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) — the setting that provides appropriate support while promoting meaningful participation.

Our program is characterized by hands-on, inquiry-based learning that encourages every student to think critically and develop problem-solving skills. Through a balance of whole-class and small-group learning experiences, children gain confidence while learning to live, work, and play collaboratively with others.

The program operates Monday through Thursday at Symmes Elementary and Blue Ash Elementary.

  • Morning session: 9:10–11:45 a.m.

  • Afternoon session: 1:20–3:55 p.m.

Busing is provided for all preschool students. Session placement (morning or afternoon) is determined by the child’s future elementary school of attendance.

Please do not register until you have received notification of placement in the program.

Sycamore Community Schools Preschool Program has received the Five-Star Step Up To Quality Award, the highest recognition from the Ohio Department of Education. This award acknowledges the program’s commitment to quality and child development.

Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) is a rating system by the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. It recognizes programs that exceed health and safety regulations. The Sycamore preschool team prepared for two years for the review, which included an unannounced on-site visit.
